Keeler, California, is nearly a ghost town.
Keller California was originally named Hawley in March of 1872. The quaint little town currently has a population of 60 people. Originally Keeler was merely a freighting terminal. But by the 1900s, there was renewed interest in the mines located nearby, and the town grew.
I wandered around the town, taking photographs of the buildings, cars, and landscape of this near-abandoned town. I found the school bus interesting as it seems that it once had people living in it. It currently makes up a part of the fence in this desolate landscape of sand and dry grass.
