Totem pole rock formation in Monument Valley Navajo tribal park, Southwest USA. Monument Valley is a fantastic place to photograph and provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The Monument Valley Navajo park has been filmed and photographed countless times over the years. The spire-like rock formations are one of my favorites to shoot when visiting the Monument Valley desert.
Valley Drive in Navajo Tribal Park
The view from the main ‘Lookout Point’ at the visitor center is pretty good, but if you take a drive along the 17 miles long desert road of Valley Drive inside the Navajo Tribal Park, you will find Totem Pole. One of the most famous rock features that are often photographed. A spire-like rock in the shape of a totem pole that is 450 feet high and only about 20 feet wide.
