Tibetan woman portrait

122

We were on a bus driving to the Buddhist settlement of Larung Gar lies between the rolling hills of the Larung Gar Valley in China.  On the side of the road, we spotted a very interesting woman and her son.  Natives of the Northern Tibetan region of China.  We pulled over and spent some time chatting with her with the help of a friend of mine that spoke Tibetan (the official language of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China).

Her portrait tells a thousand stories.  The weathered and worn look on her face tells a story of the harsh mountainous region of Tibet.  The daily hardships of living in its hills and valleys take a toll on one’s psyche and body.
