Cahir Castle originally built in the 1500s as a military outpost by the powerful Butler family. One of the most obvious things about this castle is how well it is preserved. It is only one of a few castles still remaining intact. It actually looks like a functioning building and military stronghold. All thing brings the entire medieval experience to life.
The castle is located on a rocky island of the Suir River in the center of Cahir Town, Tipperary. The aerial photo viewed here is taken in the park adjacent to the beautiful ancient castle.
