The hustle and bustle of small narrow laneways in Venice
This image was taken nearly 20 years ago. I was in Venice with my family. The cruise ship docked in Venice, Italy, and I was able to roam around for almost 12 hours. This photograph is an example of one of my fun images where I experimented with prolonged exposure. I would place the camera on the tripod and click the shutter for 15+ seconds. The results are always unpredictable and abstract. Here the crowd of people shopping in the streets and laneways of Venice was bunched up, and it looks like everyone is pushing to get forward to the next tourist destination. Each window in the composition is a small unique store filled with special items to buy. I tried this image in both color and black and white, finally settling on the latter.
