Hoodoos in the American Southwestern Desert

Desert Sunset

The mystical shapes of hoodoos in the American Southwest inspire imagination and intrigue. These strange badland rock formations created from thousands of years of water erosion, are always great to photograph.

Many have seen images from famous sites like Utah’s Bryce Canyon National Park. I like to trek off the beaten path and find smaller unknown sites where I can take more unique photographs. This small formation of hoodoos is just such a case. The color and formation of the rocks are great, which makes for a unique and interesting landscape photograph in the desert that many people have not seen before.
