As a photographer, I gravitate to the simple signs of urban culture. I also like to photograph street art, or more commonly referred to as graffiti. Some of the street art that I have found in my travels around the world is stunningly creative – art masterpieces in themselves. Not that I am suggesting that the faded Mr. Magoo character on this wall in New York City is a creative piece of art, but the fact that it has lasted the years it takes to have the paint peeled is what I find interesting.
The other aspect of this photograph that appeals to me is the texture of the peeling paint itself juxtaposed against the bright yellow brick.
