Deserts in Australia

According to the Australian National Geographic, 10 deserts in Australia make up about 20 percent of the Australian landmass. In fact, the deserts in Australia are the dryest in the world next to Antarctica.

Although the Pinnacle Desert in Nambung National Park does not make National Geographic’s top 10 deserts in Australia, it certainly is more visually fascinating.

As you can see in this photograph taken at the desert park, the limestone spires are scattered throughout the park. The dry sand swirls around the rock formations creating exciting patterns in the sand.
