Crab Hole

Australia is full of wildlife everywhere you look. In this image of a crab hole, you can see the size and nature of the hole made by a sand crab. Sand crabs are elusive small creatures that feed in the wet sand left behind with the passing of waves on the beach. The holes you find on the beach in Australia are often the entrances for sand crabs. Although the hole seems quite small compared to the size of the crab, researchers believe that might also be because the sand itself does not allow for a larger entrance without collapsing. has a great article on sand crab holes that you can get more details.
