Chinstrap Penguin Walking Alone Antarctica

I photographed this amazing Chinstrap Penguin walking alone up a hillside on a recent Antarctica trip. During this adventure, I was able to photograph countless penguins in the Antarctic wilderness. Although I was able to isolate this single Chinstrap Penguin, the population of many species of penguins is estimated at 12 million according to Ron Naveen, who spent most of the past two decades counting penguins.

Interesting fact photographers need to know. When traversing the snowy terrain you quite often sink waste deep in the snow. Each time you dig yourself out, you must bury the leg hole with snow. Otherwise, penguins actually fall in and get trapped.
