Baby Black Bear young cub walking on a tree truck across the salmon river in wild of British Columbia’s rain
Baby Black Bear young cub walking on a tree truck across the salmon river in wild of British Columbia’s rain forest. British Columbia (BC) in Canada has one of the largest black bear populations on the planet. The black bear population is everywhere across the vast BC landscape and has become internationally known as bear country. The Wild Safe BC website states that there are between 14,000 and 25,000 black bears in the Canadian province.
Black bears are fascinating mammals. They are omnivores in that they eat everything from meat, veggies, down to wild berries. When they come out of hibernation, they eat grass and plants. It all depends on the time of year. I photographed this cute baby bear during the salmon spawning season, and they were gorging on wild BC Salmon.
